COMPUTER BASED EXAMINATION CENTRE

cbecentrelogo-2014The CBE Centre runs for 6 days in a week, and is responsible delivering ACCA, CIMA and AAT Computer Based Examinations and Assessments. A dedicated team of Certified Test Administrators run the centre.

If you need to undertake your examinations with us, we are always more than ready to help you. Sunday afternoon as well as public holiday special exam event can be arranged. However an extra charge will be paid of R100.00 per event over and above the normal fees.


Computer Based Examinations (CBEs) are available for the first seven papers (not the options papers) within the Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards. All students MUST be registered with ACCA prior to being entered for CBEs.

The following papers within the Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards are available by CBE:

  • FA1 Recording Financial Transactions
  • MA1 Management Information
  • FA2 Maintaining Financial Records
  • MA2 Managing Costs and Finance
  • FAB Accountant in Business
  • FFA Financial Accounting
  • FMA Management Accounting

ACCA QUALIFICATION

The are also available for the first 4* modules of the ACCA qualification. Students MUST be registered ACCA students prior to sitting the following papers by CBE.

  • F1 Accountant in Business
  • F2 Management Accounting
  • F3 Financial Accounting
  • (F4* Corporate and Business Law- Starting from November 19th 2014)

EXAM CYCLES

ACCA offers two six monthly cycles for taking exams:

  • June cycle: 1 February to 31 July (including June paper-based exam session)
  • December cycle: 1 August to 31 January (including December paper-based exam session)

In each of the six-monthly cycles, students will be able to sit a maximum of four exams by paper based or CBE method.

These dual sessions are in line with the exemption closing dates:

EXEMPTION DEADLINES

  • 31 January – for June exams
  • 31 July – for December exams.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES

Students are not restricted to June and December paper-based exam sessions as CBEs can be sat at any time of the year.

As soon as you have received confirmation from ACCA that your application has been approved, you may make arrangements to sit CBEs.

Students should arrange their CBE’s directly with a licensed CBE centre.

FOUNDATION-LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS

ACCA has introduced an improved student experience for all exams available by CBE. At the same time, for the ACCA qualification F1-F3 and the Foundations in Accountancy equivalent exams (FAB, FMA and FFA) new question types, known as multi-task questions (MTQs) have been included as a section within the exam. MTQs contain a series of tasks which relate to one or more scenarios.

With MTQs being introduced, the structure of these exams have changed so as to ensure you access the right support materials for the exam you are taking. Please note that the syllabus content has not changed except for ACCA’s normal annual updates.

INTRODUCTORY CERTIFICATE IN FINANCIAL & MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING (FA1 & MA1)

New Format

Each exam:

  • is of two hours’ duration
  • contains 50 questions
  • is out of 100 marks
  • has a pass mark of 50%
  • contains two-mark objective test questions –multiple choice questions only.

Note: There is no change to the exam format, however further information and guidance on how to answer questions in the new system can be found on the CBE Specimen & Related Resources page (link to the right hand side of the screen), along with specimen exams for each subject.

INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE IN FINANCIAL & MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING (FA2 & MA2)

New Format

Each exam:

  • is of two hours duration
  • contains 50 questions
  • is out of 100 marks
  • has a pass mark of 50%
  • contains the following objective test questions (OTs) -all worth two marks:
    • multiple choice questions
    • multiple response questions
    • multiple response matching questions
    • number entry questions

DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS (FAB, FMA & FFA)

New Format

Each exam:

  • is of two hours duration
  • is out of 100 marks
  • has a pass mark of 50%
  • contains 2 sections:
  • section A contains objective test questions (OTs)
  • section B contains multi-task questions (MTQs)

Note:The FAB, FMA and FFA exams follow the same structure and syllabus as the ACCA Qualification exams (F1, F2 and F3 respectively).

  • has a pass mark of 50%
  • contains 2 sections:
  • section A contains objective test questions (OTs)
  • section B contains multi-task questions (MTQs)

CBE QUESTION TYPES

New Format Exams:

  • The Introductory and Intermediate Certificate in Financial & Management Accounting exams FA1, MA1, FA2 and MA2 exams will contain the OT questions listed above
  • The Diploma in Accounting and Business (FAB, FMA & FFA) and ACCA Qualification exams will contain the OTs outlined above in Section A and MTQs in Section B. MTQs are a series of tasks to be completed which relate to one or more scenarios.

Please note the following:

  • We will endeavour to give you the same date/time you would like to have the examination but we reserve to change it should there be interruption or technical problem. Please make a reservation at least 5 days before undertaking examination.
  • NB*: Unfortunately we don’t offer examinations services on Sundays and public holidays. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday (8.00am-6.00pm) Saturday (9.00am-4.00pm) while making the booking consider the closing times.
  • Please note that once you book the examinations you cannot get a refund since we will have downloaded your token for the examinations. Changing your booking will attract a penalty of R450.00 per examination booked.
  • The ACCA reserves the right to cancel a CBE for any reason whatsoever. All queries should be directed to the ACCA in event your examination has been cancelled.
  • We reserve to change the amount chargeable in case of volatility in currency (Sterling Pound against the South African Rand)
  • If you fail to attend a booked and confirmed examination, you will forfeit any fees paid.
