CIMA CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ACCOUNTING
The certificate in business accounting is CIMA’s entry level qualification. It is the route into the professional qualification for students with little or no accounting background. It is also a recognised qualification in its own right which is valued by employers. The certificate in business accounting is designed to give you a solid grounding in accounting fundamentals.
The certificate subjects are:
- Fundamentals of management accounting
- Fundamentals of financial accounting
- Fundamentals of business mathematics
- Fundamentals of business economics
- Fundamentals of ethics, corporate governance and business law
You can sit the five certificate subjects in any order and in any combination to suit your requirements
AAT ENTRY ROUTE
AAT Technician/Diploma level
If you have completed the AAT Technician/Diploma level you are exempt from the CIMA Certificate in
Business accounting, the CIMA entry level qualification. You can start studying for CIMA’s professional qualification right away.
AAT Foundation/Intermediate level
If you hold the AAT Foundation/Intermediate level, you can still study for CIMA. You will begin with CIMA entry level qualification, the certificate in business accounting. When you have completed the certificate level, you can progress to the professional qualification with all the fundamental knowledge you need to succeed.
ACCELERATED GRADUATE-ENTRY ROUTE
Studying CIMA after university is a strong career move. It can enhance your degree and strengthen your employment prospects. CIMA is a natural progression for people with finance and business degrees. It is also a business-relevant qualification that complements degrees in other areas.
Graduates with accredited degrees
Graduates with degrees accredited by CIMA may be eligible for exemptions from the certificate in business accounting and from certain exams within the professional qualification.
Graduates with relevant degrees
Graduates with degrees related to accounting, business, finance, law and other relevant areas may be eligible for exemptions from the certificate in business accounting.

Graduates with other degrees
Graduates in other disciplines will start by studying the certificate in business accounting, which will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of accounting.
You will progress to the professional qualification with all the fundamental knowledge you need to succeed.
The 2010 CIMA PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
The new 2010 CIMA Professional Qualification is different from the 2005 Qualification it has 4 levels:
- Operational Level-CIMA diploma in management accounting
- Management Level
- Strategic Level
- Test of professional competence in management accounting (T4).
How long will it take to complete CIMA?
The five exams in Certificate in Business Accounting can be studied and tested at your own pace. Some students complete them in as little as three months. On average, students take one year to complete this level.
Students complete the ten professional qualification exams in four years, on average. Most students attempt two or three exams at each sitting (in May and November each year) but if you are very ambitious they can be completed in three sittings. You also need three years’ experience before you can become a CIMA member. You can gain this experience while studying.
HOW MUCH IT WILL COST- CIMA REGISTRATION, SUBSCRIPTION AND EXAMINATION FEES
CIMA students pay a one time registration fee, an annual subscription fee, and a fee for each exam or exemption.
For example, if it takes you three years to complete CIMA and you pass every exam on the first attempt, it will cost around £1200.00
(R 15600.00 at the rate of R13.00 per £1. this is an approximation take note of exchange rates changes)
You also need to take into account the cost of study materials and any tuition classes you want to enrol in.

COURSE DELIVERY MODES
Full time classes-These are available 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), they are ideal for those who are not currently working or anyone who feels he/she requires extra time to study. There are 2 hour lessons 2 days per week giving you maximum contact hours to pass your CIMA programme
Part time Classes-These are available on in the Evenings from 6.30pm-8.30pm and on Saturdays from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Please note that the college may shift some part-time classes to Sundays during Block release programme.
